摘要:We will discuss local energy estimates for wave equations.  Trapping is a known obstruction to such estimates.  However, in the presence of unstable trapping, it was known that a logarithmic loss of regularity sufficed in order to recover the estimate.  But when the trapping was stable, all but a logarithmic amount of the decay is lost.  Here we present the first explicit scenario where an algebraic loss of regularity is both necessary and sufficient. We moreover discuss the interaction of this metric with a boundary. In particular, the behavior bifurcates when the boundary passes through the trapping.
