摘要: In this talk I will tackle the problem of balancing numerical accuracy, computational efficiency and the preservation of small features in the solution. The last requirement is of special importance for mass conservation or for the visual rendering of fluids in computer graphics. The relationship between subgrid accuracy and numerical accuracy is in general difficult to understand. I will try to explain some of these subtleties through presenting several methods required for the simulations of single and multiphase flows (e.g. for interface tracking, Poisson equations with discontinuous solution, transport of arbitrary sets, ...)
Throughout this talk I will illustrate the various methods by showing simulations of fluid flows involving droplets, soap films, and turbulence.
