Su Buqing (1902-2003): A mathematician native of Pingyang, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from Tohoku Imperial University in 1928, and received the Ph.D. degree in science in 1931. He served as a professor and director of the Department of Mathematics, and the academic dean at Zhejiang University. He was also the professor and honorary president at Fudan University, and honorary chairman of Chinese Mathematical Society. In 1948, he became a member of Academia Sinica. In 1955, he became a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Known as the first geometer in the East, he mainly studied differential geometry and computational geometry, etc. In his early years, he achieved fruitful results in the research of affine differential geometry and projective differential geometry. Later, he made outstanding achievements in general space differential geometry, high-dimensional space conjugate theory, geometric appearance design, and computer-aided geometric design. He had published more than 160 mathematics papers at home and abroad, and more than 10 monographs since 1927. He proposed the School of Differential Geometry of Zhejiang University, and conducted research on K-space geometry and projective curves.
