Xia Daoxing (1930-): A mathematician native of Taizhou, Jiangsu Province. He obtained the bachelor's degree from the Department of Mathematics, Shandong University in 1950, and master's degree from the Department of Mathematics, Zhejiang University in 1952. He was the professor at Fudan University. He won the third and fourth prizes of National Natural Science Award in 1982 and the National Science Conference Award in 1978. He became a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1980.

Regarding function theory, he verified the two conjectures of Gorusin, and made influential results in the area principle and deviation theorem of univalent function theory. In functional analysis, he established the semi-norm ring theory with involute and the locally bounded topological algebra theory, and the singular integral operator model of abnormal operators. He achieved important results in the realization theory of conditionally positive definite generalized functions and infinite-dimensional systems. In modern mathematical physics, he obtained creative results on the problem of scattering with indefinite scales. Professor Xia Daoxing currently works at Vanderbilt University, the United States.
