Tan Jianrong

Tan Jianrong (1954- ): An expert of mechanical engineering native of Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. From 1985 to 1987, he studied at Huazhong University of Science and Technology and obtained a master's degree in engineering. In 1987, he was admitted to the Department of Mathematics, Zhejiang University, and later received the Ph.D. degree in science. He is the Chair Professor, doctoral supervisor, director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Zhejiang University. He became a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007.

He is mainly engaged in research of mechanical design and theory, computer-aided design and graphics, digital design and manufacturing. He won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of the 5th National Higher Education Achievement Award. He also received the support from first National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the special allowance from the State Council, and was rated as Young and Middle-aged Talents in Graphics, Leader of Key Disciplines in Zhejiang Province, etc.
