Wang Xujia

Wang Xujia (1963-): A mathematician native of Chun'an, Zhejiang Province. After graduating from the Department of Mathematics, Zhejiang University in 1983, he pursued the postgraduate study there with the research on partial differential equations/mathematics. After obtaining the Ph.D. degree in 1990, he taught at the university until 1995 when he went to the Australian National University to conduct research on mathematics. He was the Yangtze River Chair Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Nankai University and the guest professor at Zhejiang University. He became a member of Australian Academy of Sciences in 2009 and was awarded the Medal from the Australian Mathematical Society. In 2007, he won the Morningside Gold Medal of Mathematics in the Fourth International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians for his contributions to the theory and application of fully nonlinear elliptic equation.
