Abstract:
In topological data analysis, a basic idea is to use the distance filtration on Cech cohomology of the open disk covers. I will explain the definition of Cech cohomology in a more general context with sheaf coefficients. Time permitted, I’ll talk about a generalization of the persistent homology in another direction called the Floer-Novikov homology, with a sketch of how this is motivated by applications in symplectic geometry.
