Chen Jiangong (1893-1971): A mathematician and educator native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from Tokyo Kosen and Tokyo Physics School (the predecessor of Tokyo University of Science) in 1916, and received the Ph.D. degree in Science from Tohoku Imperial University in 1929. He served as professor and director of the Department of Mathematics at former Zhejiang University, the professor and associate professor at Hangzhou University, and professor at Fudan University. He was the vice chairman of Chinese Mathematical Society, the chairman of Zhejiang Mathematical Society, the chairman of Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, and a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Jiu San Society. In 1948, he became a member of Academia Sinica. In 1955, he became a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

He specialized in real function theory, complex variable function theory and differential equation. He was the leader in function theory and the pioneer of many branches in China. In the 1920s, he independently solved fundamental mathematical problems, e.g., the function can be represented by a trigonometric series of absolute convergence, and concluded the discriminant theory of unconditional convergence.
