Some space-time methods for solving time-dependent problems

摘要:In this talk, we first give an overview of several important time parallel methods including parallel and waveform relaxation algorithms. Then, we introduce the space-time multiplicative Schwarz method for solving a system arising from the discretization of the linear parabolic equations. We obtain lower and upper bounds for the spectrum of the preconditioned operator and their dependency on the fine/coarse mesh sizes in space and time, the number of subdomains, and the window size. Some numerical experiments are presented to show the multilevel multiplicative Schwarz method has excellent parallel scalability and outperforms the classical time stepping method when the number of processors is large.

报告人:李世顺,河南理工大学副教授。2011年6月博士毕业于浙江大学数学科学学院。201311-201411月美国科罗拉多大学计算机系博士后,20181-201812月中国科学院深圳先进技术研究院访问学者。20207-202012月澳门大学访问学者。研究方向为区域分解方法和并行算法。目前主要研究时空并行区域分解算法的理论与应用。发表学术论文十余篇,主持完成国家自然科学基金项目三项,河南省面上项目一项。
